The table below shows the ribbon colors awarded based on score ranges. After a Level 3 athlete completes a routine, the judge will display the ribbon color they earned and attach it to their scorecard. At the end of the competition, athletes will receive their scorecards with all corresponding ribbons.
This system applies to both Division 1 and Division 2 athletes.
The goal of the ribbon system in level 3 is to help ensure that athletes' first year of competition is a positive one. Young athletes find color-based advancement easier to understand than numerical scores, particularly when decimals are involved. This system guarantees that every athlete leaves with something tangible after each meet and provides a physical object as the feedback for their improvement (in this case, advancing a color rank).
The desired outcome is to help clubs retain level 3s after their first year of competition.
Here is a copy of the original proposal. It has since been modified to use 5 color ranks that match the WA Women's color system so that the same ribbons can be used. The colors are in rank order from lowest score to highest score; Yellow, White, Red, Blue, Red/White/Blue.
